Teodor Lojk

Civil engineer and architect Teodor Lojk (1913–2006) was born on 12 October 1913 in Ljubljana; through his father Josip, he originated from Črniče in the Vipava Valley.

In 1953, he comprehensively arranged the site at Okroglica, where President Tito delivered a speech. In the same year, he became director and chief designer of the newly established Projekt Bureau Nova Gorica, where he worked for fourteen years. During this period, he designed numerous residential blocks, public buildings (including the municipal blocks on Delpinova Street), private houses, industrial facilities and memorials of the National Liberation Struggle.

In the final years before his retirement, he served as an urban planning inspector for the municipalities of Ajdovščina, Tolmin and Nova Gorica. He lived in Nova Gorica until his death in 2006 and is buried at the town cemetery in Stara Gora.
