Monument to France Bevk

The bronze statue of the writer France Bevk, created in 1974, belongs to the group of full-figure figurative monuments. Slightly larger than life (210 cm), it dominates the green area along Kidrič Street. The statue stands on a stone pedestal engraved with words, thoughts and quotations from Bevk’s literary work.

It is one of many portrait works by Boris Kalin (1906–1975), a native of Solkan and one of Slovenia’s most important sculptors, renowned for his mastery of the human figure and large-scale realist sculpture. The monument does not merely present a symbolic image of the writer, but convincingly reflects his real appearance, to which the sculptor also added a sense of grandeur and inner depth.
